Almost every painting failure we get called to look at is a preparation failure, not a paint failure. Coating over a surface that was never washed, filled or primed properly buys a year or two, then it lifts.
The specialty finishes work the other way around. Venetian plaster, French wash and microcement are applied wet and cannot be corrected once they set.
